After the class was over & I said my goodbyes to my students, I took some time to think about the class. I had one student join in who I'd never met before. This student also didn't know anyone else in the room. How brave of this person to come to her mat & practice in a new class with new people. At the beginning of the class, she was very quiet, perhaps she's just shy I thought.
Regardless of this she moved through her practice with beauty & elegance. I was inspired by the ease & confidence with which she modified poses to suit her practice. She truly seemed to honour herself.
After the class was over & we were gathering up our mats & props I was thrilled to see that this student was smiling brightly & was chatting with the group. Ah....the magic of Yoga!
My student's bright smile reminded me of that feeling I get when I'm on my mat & I am truly connected with my practice. It goes beyond the perfect Adho Mukha Svanasana or finally kicking up into Adho Mukha Vrksasana (which I will continue to work on little by little every single day...maybe one day I nail it! Until then I'll enjoy the magic of trying!). It's that warmth in my heart that makes it impossible not to smile. It's magic.
This magic is why I practice Yoga every day....this magic is why I share Yoga with my students.
Namaste my friends
